Stunning Claddagh ring for ladies in 14 carats gold. The Claddagh ring looks back at a long history in Ireland. Around the 16th century it is known as wedding and engagement ring in Ireland.

Legend has it that the ring goes back to an Irish fisherman. He was abducted by Algerian pirates shortly before he was to be married to his love. He was sold into slavery and ended up as a servant to an Arabian goldsmith. There, he learnt how to craft the most beautiful jewellery. The goldsmith promised him, he would free him, if he would manufacture a jewellery of outstanding beauty. So the fisherman crafted a ring that is today known as the Claddagh ring. The goldsmith hence freed him and the fisherman could return to Ireland to marry his love.

The Claddagh ring is traditionally worn in these manners to show the marital status of its wearer:

If the Claddagh ring is placed on the left hand and the heart points in the direction of the wearer, the heart is already taken. If you are engaged you wear the ring on your right hand with the heart facing the wearer. If you are looking for the right one, wear the ring on the right hand but with the heart pointing upwards. In the past and partly still today the Claddagh ring is traditionally handed down from mother to daughter.
